Love Calls Us to Action

To close your eyes to the world is to contribute to conditions that could cause harm to yourself or others. The world is created of positive and negative forces. This must be the case for life to exist. For the healthy functioning of our intellect and emotions, we have to be aware of that which makes the world and seek a balance and a harmony. For example, if your neighborhood were on fire and your home were about to go up in flames, would you ignore the situation; or would you get off the couch and go out and see what could be done. Perhaps you would seek to help your neighbor, perhaps you would try to put out the flames; but at the very least, you would be keenly aware and try to escape.

Or suppose you didn't want to acknowledge the existence of cars and trucks, do you think you could sit in the middle of the expressway without repercussions? The better way is not denial, but awareness of everything that the world is. Allow yourself to feel the pain of your friends and neighbors. Allow yourself to cry and to laugh. This is the beauty of life, to be involved with everything that life has to offer. We can choose compassion and peace. Together, through unity, we can make life better and more livable. LOVE doesn't deny the negative, the bad, or the ugly, rather LOVE opens our eyes and our hearts to the beauty of helping and living.
